The Founder/President

Kanesha Moore of Memphis, TN is the Founder and President of G.E.M.S. Mentoring Program. She is a 2012 Psychology/Pre-Med graduate from Spelman College, and she received her Master's of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Memphis in 2016. Kanesha believes that having a healthy mind and healthy body are essential for living a productive and successful life. To help girls and women achieve these healthy levels of functioning, Kanesha teaches cheer and dance to girls in her community, pro-bono. She is also the Founder and Instructor for Kardio Blast Dance Fitness where she encourages women to have a Blast getting Fine, Fit, and Confident! 

 

Not only does Kanesha promote physical wellness, but she prides herself in helping with the advancement of children. Kanesha Moore has worked for the Shelby County Schools System since 2012 where she recently taught 7th grade Science at Kate Bond Middle School. She is currently teaching an introductory counseling course at a major university. Kanesha believes that education is the key to success and models for young people the heights that can be reached through it. She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society in Education, Golden Key International Honor Society, and Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic & Professional Honor Society International where she served as the Fundraising Chair. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Memphis, and  she is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

 

Kanesha has been taught that, " It is my choice, and I choose to change the world." She believes that there is no better way to make that change than to uplift and inspire the youth. Kanesha is on a mission to help girls in Memphis and nationwide reach high levels of self-efficacy and "Shine" beyond measure.
